Greg Elms has spent much of his life in the food world. Growing up in his family's hotel, he trained as a chef, before being inspired to become a photographer by an amazing 1930s food photograph (Pepper No30 by Edward Weston). In a career spanning two decades, he has photographed numerous cookbooks whilst also working as a travel photographer for the guidebook company, Lonely Planet, documenting the food of many countries. Consequently his food photography is strongly influenced by his travels. He sees every food image as an opportunity to create a small narrative: whether it's a grungy street cafe in Hong Kong, a palace in India, or an upmarket chocolaterie in Paris.
