Pink Lady® is proud to have been the headline sponsor of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year competition since its launch in 2011.
“We’ve always believed that there is great synergy between the Pink Lady® brand, which has uncompromising quality at its core and the ethos of the awards, which celebrate the very best in food photography and film,” says Peter Durose, Managing Director of Coregeo®, the Master Licensor of Pink Lady® in the UK.
“We have been delighted to see how the awards have grown in stature and scope, so that finalists and winners are recognised for their achievements internationally. Food imagery is significant in all our lives, whether it’s a snap on a mobile phone, a compelling photograph in a newspaper or a beautifully-lit image on an advertising hoarding on the way home. There are so many talented food photographers out there and the Food Photographer of the Year Awards provide a valuable platform to give the best in their field the recognition they deserve.”
The Foundation has as its aim to foster and make Finnish historical photography and film known, especially regarding Heikki Aho’s, Björn Soldan’s, Claire Aho’s and the film production company Aho & Soldan’s production.
The pioneering Finnish photographers and filmmakers, Heikki Aho (1895-1961), Björn Soldan (1902-1953), Claire Aho (1925-2015). HEIKKI AHO and BJÖRN SOLDAN were among the leading photographers and documentary filmmakers of their time. Their father was the author and journalist Juhani Aho (1861-1921), married to artist Venny Soldan-Brofeldt (1863-1945) – the “artist couple” of their era. In 1924 Heikki and Björn established their legendary production company AHO & SOLDAN, producing well over 400 films and laying the foundations for the Finnish documentary tradition.
Heikki’s daughter CLAIRE AHO, “The Grand Old Lady of Finnish Photography” - who received her first camera from her father at the age of 10 - joined Aho & Soldan in the late 1940´s. Having opened her own commercial studio she became a pioneer of colour photography and was especially active in the 1950s and 1960s. Claire Aho´s photographs, full of wit, taken some 60-70 years ago, could as well have been taken today. They are a delightful display of Claire´s ‘Selective Eye’, her sense of composition, her humour, but above all her acute sense of colour.
The Foundation is pleased to be a partner with Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2021 in presenting the new Claire Aho Award for Women Photographers.

Don Maximiano Errazuriz founded Viña Errazuriz in 1870 in the Valle de Aconcagua, 100km north of Santiago. With cool, rainy winters, hot, dry summers and moist Pacific Ocean breezes, this is the ideal climate for growing grapes and it is here that Viña Errazuriz has been producing the highest quality Chilean wines for more than 150 years.
Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano’s descendant, Eduardo Chadwick, who is the fifth generation of his family to be involved in the wine business. Eduardo has overseen the modernisation of the winemaking technology at this historic estate while maintaining a distinct identity for its wines.
Errazuriz’s philosophy is best expressed by Don Maximiano who said, “From the best land, the best wine.” With a reputation for innovation, quality and sound environmental principles, Viña Errazuriz is dedicated to producing estate grown wines of superior quality. With a strong belief in the concept of ‘terroir’, they strive to produce the finest wines by controlling every stage of the process, from grape growing, to winemaking with the most natural techniques with an emphasis on delicate handling of the wines, to produce wines with elegance and complexity.

Finland’s fusion of wild beauty, local traditions, contemporary design and culinary excellence makes it a captivating mix. With miles of rugged wilderness, the Finns are uniquely in tune with their natural surroundings. A nation where people can switch from the busy cities to foraging for wild berries in a heartbeat.
Due to its northern location and its extensive clean lakes, forests and national parks, Finland is a haven of pure and naturally nutrient-rich food. This includes fresh fish, mushrooms, berries, wild herbs and vegetables which don’t need to be transported many miles to reach the plates of Finns, or their restaurants. New Nordic cuisine and an abundance of fresh Finnish produce means Finland’s food scene has long been the best kept secret in the Nordics and the country is fast becoming a global hub of culinary delights and innovative cuisine.
New food trends from Helsinki, the seaside capital, are inspiring the whole of Finland and it is home to young creative chefs, baristas, food producers and café owners helping to create a new Nordic kitchen philosophy influenced by ingredients of nature.
The importance of representing the surrounding nature is shown in numerous Finnish restaurants from Michelin star restaurants such as Restaurant Demo and Grön to local, regional hotspots around the country such as the Aurora Estate in Kolari, Lapland, Kaskis in Turku, Ravintola C in Tampere and Raatihuoneen Kellari in Pori.
The World Food Programme is a first responder in emergencies, providing food and other support to survivors of conflicts, droughts, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes and, most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. We further work with governments, communities and households to break persistent cycles of hunger and malnutrition, and to make them more resilient to disasters.
In short, we have response systems and processes in place, along with the expertise to ramp up operations once funding is made available.
