Life-Changing Inspiration – Get a Slice of the Action
In a series of short interviews, we took some time to catch up with previous winners and Highly Commended photographers of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year, where they shared what they love about the competition.
One Vision Imaging Cream of the Crop, Highly Commended
“I entered Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year on a whim three years ago. Suffering terribly from imposter's syndrome, I didn't for a moment think that my image would even be noticed, well, it was noticed and totally changed my life. In 2019, I was awarded 'Highly Commended' in the 'Cream of Crop' category. It was always a personal goal (and incredible honour) to make it into the Finals of this much-contested category, as every year the selected shortlist and final images are breath-taking.
Since entering Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year, I have gone on to create a successful career in food photography working on cook books, helping brands create a uniform and unique marketing style, running workshops both privately and with Nikon School of Photography in London, and being invited to speak at The Photography Show in Birmingham.”
Food for Sale, Highly Commended
"Getting into the Final of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year for the last 7 years has definitely had a positive influence on how clients perceive my relevance within the highly competitive world of food photography. Getting a "Highly Commended" has helped increase social media engagement, networking with new clients and colleagues alike and opened doors to new opportunities."

"We were really excited and happy to win a prize for such a prestigious contest as Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year that we consider the most influential in the world! We will certainly participate in the next edition!"
Food Bloggers, Highly Commended
“Being Commended and Highly Commended in Pink Lady® Food Photography awards was a huge boost: an encouragement to keep telling those visual stories, to keep learning from all those amazing photographers around the world - and it was a really valuable chance for greater recognition and more followers of my blog (crumbsonthetable.co.uk).
The reputation of this international competition is such that it’s led to me getting new commissions, new readers and followers and more satisfaction in my work. It’s such an honour to compete with creative people of such a high calibre. I’d urge anyone who uses photography to tell stories about food to enter. You’ll learn, be inspired, and find yourself stretching to do better and better with your own work.
I genuinely adore Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year and am always amazed by the photography. It’s also so well-run, and I’m enormously grateful to everyone on the team who makes it possible."
One the Phone in support of Action Against Hunger, 1st Place
Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year – People, 2nd Place
“It was great winning the On the Phone category. I got a lot of recognition from press and peers alike. My son, who is in the photo, was also very happy. I had not taken Phone photography seriously before I saw this category, however I now do put more thought into phone photos. I was impressed to see the image in print at the event last year and now have made more prints from my phone images.”
With only one month left to enter the world’s leading competition celebrating food photography and film, make sure you don’t miss such a life-changing opportunity.
Deadline for entries is Midnight 9 February 2020.
