Photography for the Family

With Father’s Day this last weekend, Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year wanted to reflect on some wonderful family celebratory stories shared with us through the awards.

Our 10 and Under Finalist, Evie Grimshaw told Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year that she had heard about the competition ‘in her house from her Daddy’.

This year, Evie took the 2nd place for our Young 10 and Under category with her amazing shot ‘Paella.’

We asked Evie why she entered the competition…

‘It's just amazing and helps you learn a lot on photography as well.’ Evie told us it felt ‘Amazing’ to be selected as a finalist.

Her big sister Lily was commended for her shot ‘Lychees’ in our Young, 11 to 14 category.

Andy Grimshaw has been entering the competition for years, and has spurred on his two daughters, Evie and Lily to do so too…

‘Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year has really become a family competition and it’s great fun seeing the girls choose what to submit. When I won back in 2018, it gave me a lot of attention in the food world and was great to see so many of my clients emailing to say well done. Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year is definitely the go to competition in our industry and the most prestigious.

Evie has always seen me taking photographs wherever we go whether on my phone or camera. She has a strong competitive streak and she’s determined that she wants to beat me and win the under ten category so she has one year left!

During lockdown I brought all my studio equipment home and my input into home-schooling has been to teach the girls how to set up a Photoshoot, where to put the lights, what lights to use, what you want in the photos accessories wise and how to use photoshop and we’ve had lots of fun taking pictures of the home baking we have been doing. Not too sure it’s been that kind to my waistline though!
